There are so many great things that can come from composting and I think it's cool that you took the time to learn about it. I've found that the more you do it, the more it becomes second nature, you won't even notice. Although watch out! The biodegradable bags have a tendency to er-bottom out when carrying them to the curb, so watch out for that! That's awesome about SFs composting initiative!
